It's more than half a year since my last post....been very very busy with my un-wired life.
Just a quick post for now...
Here's what I've been lusting for this week...I hope my benefactor hears my pleas!!!! Please please please!!! :-P

I'm putting this out there so that The Secret will work for me...and I hope and pray it'll be this week! Is that too much to ask for?

I never knew who Zaha Hadid was until I saw this:

Photos from the Melissa website.
Un-technically speaking, it looks weird to me -- the good kind of weird. **nods head**
Yes, it looks architectural and all what with the highly interesting concepts that characterizes Zaha Hadid's design philosophy.
Without knowing all that info-overload about the Iraqi architect-turned-Melissa shoe designer, I say those Melissa shoes are F - U - N!!!
As I have mentioned in one or two of my previous posts, I adore Melissa shoes. A lot of people say they're just plastic, why pay thousands of pesos for it? Just to share with you guys, they're waaaaaaay better than those plastic-imitations. I'll be honest. I bought a pair of yellow Marc Jacobs Jelly Mouse-knock offs from the mall tiangge for only P 150!!! And they hurt! And my feet smelled of plastic afterwards. Blech!
Going back, my heart started racing when I saw these on the website. Only to find out that they're exclusively sold at Dover Street Market in UK! What?!? Think think think.... Oh! I have a cousin who lives in UK, maybe I can order it online and have it shipped to my cousin's place, I thought myself. Okay, next info to know, price. And then, the bubble burst. No, exploded. Not only is it sold countries and seas away from me, but it goes for £200!!!! That's 15,000 Philippine pesos! Hello???? I'm a slave to shoes (and may I add, bags), but it's a no go with this one. I guess this one needs to be moved to my "Maybe Someday When I Win the Lottery" list.

Youtube is such a blessing! As mentioned in the previous post, I watched the Rihanna & Chris Brown Concert last Sunday with my sister.
We weren't able to record most of the performances as videocams were not allowed into the venue. Good thing there were people who were able to capture the best parts of the show.
Here's my favorite one. It's the best and the worst.
The BEST -- coz it's my favorite CB song. The WORST - coz when CB threw his shirt to the audience, my sister and I caught it. You ask what's WORST about that? The people behind us started pulling really hard at the ends of the shirt choking my sister!!! Grrrr! To avoid a scramble, the boucers took the shirt and said they'll keep it first and return it after the show.
When the concert was done, I called for the bouncer who kept it. It was with him but he couldn't give it to me coz there were these kids staking their claim. Hellloooooooo?! They were way behind us and everyone saw that the shirt fell right into my and my sister's hands. Long story short, the bouncer went backstage. We waited until the other people went home and asked for the bouncer again. And guess what? He lost the shirt!!!!! Or so he says. So, yeah. That's the WORST part and it breaks my heart.
Watch as CB sings "Forever" and then throws his shirt.:-(

My sister and I have been standing for almost 3 hours now here at the open field where everyone in Manila is waiting for the Rihanna & Chris Brown Concert will be starting in a few hours.
It's a good thing, no, a great thing that we're at the Platinum area -- which is very near the stage! Woohoo! Every now and then, my sister and I will suddendly get that jolt of excitement of what's to come. And you wonder how I'm able to post thus entry? There's WiFi! Can you believe it?!
Hopefully we'll be able to take very nice pics of the lovebirds performing tonight.
Will post pics later!
For now, we'll patiently wait for the Riri and CB to arrive.:-)

Visited the land of shopping just a few weeks ago. One thing I noticed, people there dress up as if no one's looking! And I mean that in a really good way. Truth of it is, I say that in a kind of envious way.
The weather in HK was kind of un-predictable -- at times humid, super hot, or downright wet.
I was surprised to see ladies walking around in their cutest, nonchalant outfits. Whether they be in Central, in the MTR, or in Disneyland.
To better understand what I mean, I've taken photos, albeit sneakily **sheepish grin**, of the interesting footwear I saw while on the island.
I would totally love to travel and tour in stylish footwear but I don't think I can bear the pain at the end of the day **middday maybe -- if I last that long with all the walking that I do**.
I hope I'm not coming off as stalker-ish here....please forgive me **batting eyelashes**, I just can't resist pretty S-H-O-E-S! :-P

I've just seen Louis Vuitton's Spring Summer 09 collection via this LoVe blog.
I'm loving the burst of colors! It's got my fave ones like green, yellow and orange. And don't forget the sprinkling of dots and pieces of leopard print.
And of course, the shoes! They got this Tiki vibe to it. I loveit them.

Yes, I've been quite bitten by the Olympic bug. Moreso when the synchronized swimming competition began a few days ago. I now am hooked!
Apart from the toned bodies, technical precision and world records, the aesthetics definitely tops all things I like about these games.
Who could resist checking out the shoes that these athletes wear?

I wonder if that metallic gold shoes helped Jamaica's Usain Bolt win the Men's 200m Final?

Notice Sweden's Alhaji Jeng's gold-soled shoes? Too bad he wasn't able to qualify for the Pole Vault Finals. But he wins the Gold Medal in my book for the most flashy Olympic 2008 shoes.

Every now and then, I'd be watching the Beijing Olympic games purely for the sport and showmanship.
Unlike beauty pageants where one expects to see, what else, beautiful girls, this stunning Paraguayan javelin thrower threw us off-course.
She's Leryn Franco and she looks like a doll! She reminds me of these dolls I got as a child that were smaller than a Barbie but has a cuter wide eyed faces and dressed in what look liked flamenco dresses.
Not only is she a sportswoman, she's also a model and former Miss Paraguay runner up.
She says she uses her earnings from her modeling to fund her sport. Too bad she didn't qualify for the javelin finals.

After a long tedious week, I finally can rest my feet up and relax...for just a bit coz a lot still needs to be done before this week ends.
Part of my relaxation is to plop down in front of my computer and lose myself wherever the click of the mouse takes me.
And where does it take me? Where else but to the world wide shoe section of the world.
I'm a want this Betsey Johnson's take on oxfords.

What's especially cute with these pair is the bottom...WINK!

Is that Marilyn Monroe face???

I'm back from a quick weekend getaway and I was finally able to catch up on some much needed rest.
All I needed was a little sunshine to rouse me from my 'fall' musings last week. There's nothing like happy sunny weather by the poolside on a lazy afternoon to rejuvenate one's spirits.
Anyway, the 'down time' gave me a chance to play around with my camera. While I was reclined, I decided to 'model' my Melissa Nights. Isn't it obvious by now how I love bringing this pair with me when I travel? **actually didn't travel that far from home really...a hotel just a few minutes away was enough at this point to dis-engage for some R&R** Plus, the weather was so lovely not to be used as some kind of backdrop.

And speaking of cute..**forgive me for jumping from one thing to another here...my mind's still in lala-land mode**...isn't Hayden's bob the cutest ever? She's currently one of my fave 'it' girls aside from Rachel Bilson and Mila Kunis.

I live in a tropical country and I should not even bother looking at the Fall 2008 fashion trends. But I found myself glued to Style.com one evening and dreaming up myself all glammed up in the season's latest trends.
I don't know what it is with cold-weather dressing that excites me. All I know, or should I say can imagine, is how soft and luxurious those fall and winter fabrics must be. Daydreaming being wrapped in cashmere, wool, silk or velvet almost takes me to a cozy cafe in Paris or New York or Chicago. Oh, and the challenge of layering really gets my creative juices pumping. It's kind of boring and disappointing how wearing a vest or a scarf can make one break out in sweat. And the humid weather at times is no help neither.
Or, maybe this fascination with being covered up from head to toe stems from the fact that I don't get to do just that as much as I want to, hence the desire.
Nevertheless, here are some of the looks I'm obsessing with.
I think lace will be big this coming months. Check out Prada's Fall 2008 looks. I think I have a sleeveless lace top somewhere in my closet. I wonder how I can wear it without becoming sweaty and uncomfy. Some layering with a flimsy tee could work.

Check out that lace bag! That's a very nice way of incorporating some "fall" feeling to one's wardrobe. Black + Lace = Classic.
Another thing I'm lusting after are the decorative tights from Anna Sui. Can somebody tell me where I can find something like it? This would be a clever way to update my wardrobe. I'm sure I can't afford the Anna Sui's, so I'll just wait til TopShop or somebody comes up with a cheaper version.

The second one is what I like best. Sheer, subtle and sophisticated. Looks kinda like lace too.
How about you guys? What are your picks for Fall?

After having seen VerniLover's photos(see some of them in the previous post), I took out my camera and decided to take some pics of my latest shoe buy.

I used to be wary of footwear made of wood. Reminds me so much of the local "bakya". Not that I have anything against it, but the click-clacking sound it makes, especially when going down steps, leaves a ringing sound in my head causing me a headache. This one, obviously, is the exception to that rule. It has straps that go 'round the ankles and rubber soles attached underneath which makes for a "quieter" bakya.
I've been a good girl (meaning not swiping my plastic) for weeks (that's a record in my case, hihi), and this unexpectedly caught my eye in the store. "Give the poor pretty thing a try", a voice in my head whispered. So off I went to the fitting room with it and put it on, ready to accept that this one will hurt undoubtedly. To my surprise, it was un-believably comfy! Since this one is so nice to my tootsies, it went home with me that day (sheepish grin). Just to be sure, I got these gel pads from Marks & Spencer to protect the balls of my feet from getting sore when I wear them. And protect it did. I did a lot of walking with these shoes on, and I mean a lot! And it didn't hurt a bit. Definitely worth keeping. (nods head):-)
I'm so happy I've got a new hobby. (geez, do I need to get a life or what?) I'd better maximize our camera's full potential and maximize use of my shoes as well. I have pairs I haven't even worn yet in years! I think this will be a fun way to catalogue my shoes. No need to rummage through stacks of boxes. I hope.

Well, for me, that is.
I've recently realized how much space (and cash!) my monthly obsession of buying local mags has taken up.
There are magazines everywhere the house!
It's maddening. And stifling.
So I set off to purge my shelves and racks.
Oh, expect OC (that's obsessive-compulsive) me to go through A-L-L mags page by page to cut out certain stuff I would like to keep. At that rate, I was able to finish in 2 days, throwing out/giving away roughly 100 glossies.
As I was going through my years-old stash, I told myself "I should have stopped buying these a long time ago." With all the fashion blogs that abound in cyberspace, there's really no need for it. There are far more fresh and brave stylish souls out there who just go ahead and wear their hearts out in both designer and non-label articles. See Rumi and Karla. And do check out chictopia.com. It's a must!
But, I'm keeping my Marie Claire-s! I think it's the most balanced women's magazine out there.
If only mags would go online, it'd be a great help to my pocket (and to the environ as well, don't you think?). Like this Luxx ezine. It's sooooooo luxurious! And the pages "turn" with a click. How fun is that! Apparently, they're on their 4th Edition already. How could I have missed this. Check out their first three editions at TimesOnline.
I especially liked this city of shoes spread they did.

I'm home on a dark rainy day, holed up in my desk, reaching out to the world via the Internet.
Pathetic me, I know.
But, oh no. Wait til you see what I found after much aimless wandering in the realm of cyberspace.
If these doesn't brighten up a dark damp day, I don't know what will.

Though these babies are nice to have, sadly, I don't have that nice, hefty bank account to fund these dreamy shoes;
and this fantastic plexi-glass shoe case.
Such a LoVely way to display one's treasured chaussures.
Oh well, my day is back again to being blah.
Oh wait! Here's something I'm sure to chase the dark clouds away (even just the ones in my head).
I hope to see even just a few of these babies next year! (Momentarily visualizes self wearing that plexi-wedge shoes and carrying that logo-printed LV bag.)
Sigh. I'm off to la-la-land now.

After attending to a lot of grown-up concerns this past weeks, I open my mail today to see new offerings from Melissa.
Having gone malling for 2 straight days wearing heels, my legs are begging me to go lower. Making me choose the following flats from this Brazilian brand.
Having gone malling for 2 straight days wearing heels, my legs are begging me to go lower. Making me choose the following flats from this Brazilian brand.
This style is in stores right now, but I'm wanting these new colors! Can't wait to get my hands, er, feet, on those bronze ones!
For sure, my feet will be happy in these cute pair of flats. Again, I'm leaning towards the gold one. Or, maybe green. I don't have a green pair yet.
It's going to be a loooong wait til August! I wonder if those straps are detachable? I am liking that there's a touch of heel to this one.
One might think they're pretty pricey for plastic shoes, but if you're like me who does a lot of walking around and one who doesn't like having water marks on their shoes, then this one's a good investment.
My red lace Glam makes for a good strolling pair.
And my pearl Night + Lorenzo Merlino pair is my better substitute for sneakers. It has gone canopy-walking and zipline-ing with me recently.
I was praying real hard here that my Melissa's don't slip off. Good thing I had presence of mind and was able to finish with my limbs and shoes intact.
By the way, one should try the canopy walk and zipline in Cagayan De Oro even just once. It sure was a thrilling experience.
